UpChieve is an on-demand tutoring platform where volunteers help low-income high school students. Volunteers log in whenever they're free and get instantly matched with a student who needs help right now — no scheduling required. Sessions use text chat and a shared whiteboard to cover STEM subjects, SAT prep, and essay review.

🚀 How to Get Started
Apply online
Fill out the volunteer application on the UpChieve website. You'll provide basic info and select which subjects you're comfortable coaching.
Complete onboarding
UpChieve has a short training and onboarding quiz to ensure volunteers understand how sessions work and the platform's approach to helping students.
Go online and wait for a match
Log into the platform, click "Go Online," and the system will notify you when a student requests help in your subject area. You'll be matched automatically.
Help the student
Use the chat and whiteboard tools to work through the student's problem. Most sessions are 30–60 minutes. After the session, give brief feedback through the platform.
